Organizing a sports tournament: find the ideal date

Organizing a local tournament means juggling players' availability, court time slots and everyone's constraints. Emailing 20 players to find a common date can quickly turn into a nightmare. DooDates makes coordination simple: create the poll with the AI chat, set a deadline before booking the court, and use the Blockers filter to know exactly who is keeping each date from working.

In 3 steps

1

Create the poll with the AI chat

Describe the tournament to the AI: "padel tournament, 4 teams, 3 possible dates in May, court 3 at the club". The AI generates the poll with the location already filled in. Share the link in the club's WhatsApp group.

2

Set a deadline before booking the court

Set an automatic voting deadline — ideally 1 week before your court booking deadline. You get every response without chasing anyone manually.

3

Pinpoint the date with the Blockers filter

The Blockers filter reveals exactly which team or which player is keeping each date from working. The Consensus filter directly shows the dates where everyone can take part. Confirm and book.

Frequently asked questions

For each proposed date, the Blockers filter shows the exact list of players or teams who can't make it. You can see at a glance whether a blocker is a deal-breaker (a key player) or acceptable (a substitute is available). That lets you pick the date that minimizes important absences.

3 to 5 dates is ideal. Too few and you risk landing on a date that's impossible for half the players; too many choices and people struggle to decide. For a big tournament, 4 dates across 2 consecutive weekends is a good starting point.

Click "Find a time slot" and describe the tournament ("club tennis tournament, Saturday May 10 or May 17, indoor court"). The AI generates the poll in 10 seconds with the location and the dates. Share it right away.

Yes. Each team captain responds for their team, or you ask each player to vote individually. The results give you a clear view of overall availability per time slot.

From the results page, copy the link and share it in your group — participants see the confirmed date directly. You can also update the poll description with a confirmation message.
